Our sauna building service in Jakarta covers four formats — custom dry saunas, steam rooms, infrared cabins and outdoor cabins — at indicative prices from IDR 15 million for a prefab unit to 150 million and up for commercial projects, with a specialty in compact, quiet cabins for penthouses, premium villas and business clubs. We're based in Kebayoran Baru, surveys and quotes are free across DKI Jakarta, and every build carries a written 2-year warranty. That's the summary; the rest of this page explains how we arrive at those numbers and that quality.
The sauna follows the home, not the other way round
The most expensive mistake in a sauna project isn't picking the wrong timber — it's forcing a format the building can't carry. That's why our conversation always starts with your type of home.
Premium villas and landed houses — Cilandak, Pondok Indah, Kemang, or the big Puri Indah clusters — give the most freedom: dry saunas for up to 6 people, outdoor cabins in the garden, even a full wellness room; PLN supply is usually already 7,700 VA or easy to upgrade. At this level of property, the request we hear most concerns what you can't see: machinery must be neither visible nor audible. So the chiller and electrical panel go into the service room right from the working drawings, and the sauna area itself shows nothing but timber, glass and light.
Townhouses and mid-range cluster homes most often go for a compact 2–4 person sauna off the master bathroom or built into the home gym. The challenge is almost always electrical capacity — this is where a VA calculation before the deposit saves your budget from surprises.
Penthouses and apartments along the Sudirman, Menteng or Kelapa Gading corridors are the specialty that sets us apart most: compact cabins that disturb no one. Infrared panels run without fans and are practically silent, and on dry saunas the cabin frame never touches the unit's walls directly — a damping layer breaks the vibration path into the building's structure. The 1.7–2.4 kW draw of infrared means no power-upgrade drama, while we build the management approval file from real experience, not a template. The permit details are in our Jakarta apartment sauna guide.
The four formats we build
Custom dry saunas are our most ordered build: a timber cabin with a stone heater at 70–90°C and low 10–20% humidity. Built to follow your room — cornered, elongated, glass-walled, or hidden behind an ordinary timber door. Indicative price IDR 60–120 million at 2×2 m, a budget variant in mixed materials from 40 million, and mini/prefab units at 15–35 million if you need the fastest route.
Steam rooms deliver 40–45°C steam at close to 100% humidity — a completely different sensation from a dry sauna. The construction is the most demanding: full waterproofing, floors sloped to a drain, a pitched ceiling so condensation doesn't drip on your head, and a 6–9 kW steam generator. Indicative price IDR 50–100 million for 2×2 m turnkey.
Infrared cabins heat the body directly through panels at 45–60°C rather than through the air. They draw just 1.7–2.4 kW — fine in a 2,200 VA home with no upgrade — and install in 1–2 days. The go-to choice for apartments and houses that have maxed out their PLN supply. Indicative price IDR 30–70 million.
Outdoor cabins stand alone in a garden or on a rooftop, in weatherproof thermowood with a rain canopy and a proper foundation. We install them most in East and South Jakarta, where yards still have room. Indicative price IDR 80–150 million.
Not sure which format? Our article on dry, steam or infrared saunas breaks all three down by sensation, cost and fit with your home.
Five-layer walls: the defence against Jakarta humidity
Jakarta's air carries 75–85% humidity all year. A cabin built like furniture — boards nailed to a frame, done — soaks up vapour from inside and out, then grows mould in year two or three. We avoid that with the same layered construction on every project: an outer cladding panel, a frame holding 50 mm of rockwool insulation behind an aluminium vapour barrier that stops moisture before it reaches the insulation, a 20 mm ventilation gap keeping the back of the panels dry, and only then the timber interior.
For interiors we only use timber proven at sauna temperatures: western red cedar with its signature scent, more economical Scandinavian spruce, or thermowood, the most stable in heat and humidity. Benches are always aspen or abachi — two porous woods that don't store heat, so they're safe to sit on at peak temperature. Local hardwoods like bengkirai have their own place: decking, outdoor steps, structure — not surfaces that touch skin.
Heaters come from three manufacturers with spare parts available in Indonesia: Harvia, Sawo and Tylo. That means heating elements, replacement stones and control panels arrive without months of waiting — a small thing that only starts to matter in year three of ownership.
PLN power: the maths comes out before your money
A 6–9 kW dry sauna heater needs a 7,700–11,000 VA connection, while many Jakarta homes still sit at 2,200–5,500 VA. That's not a blocker — but it has to be calculated up front, not discovered mid-installation. Our procedure: at the free survey, the technician records your installed capacity, the home's peak load and the available cable routes. The result goes into the quote as a number, not an assumption.
If an upgrade is needed, the cost follows PLN's official tariff and is paid by the owner — we handle the application through to completion. If an upgrade isn't possible, the infrared cabin is the honest answer. Every installation uses heat-rated SiHF cable, a separate breaker and ELCB protection; the heater panel never piggybacks on the AC or water pump circuit.
Silent and smart-home ready: the premium-home standard
Two requests that used to count as special we now treat as standard. First, sound. A sauna is inherently quiet — stone heaters and infrared panels run without fans — but in a penthouse or a party-wall townhouse, even tiny vibrations can travel through the structure. Our answer is structural, not cosmetic: the cabin frame stands on a damping layer and never touches the dividing walls, while motorised components like the ice bath chiller are moved to a service room or utility balcony.
Second, control. The heaters we install offer two integration routes: a dry contact your integrator can tie into your smart home scenes — say a "night mode" that dims the house lights and starts heating the cabin — or the manufacturer's Wi-Fi module for direct commands from a phone app. We lay the wiring for both while the electrical work is under way, rather than tearing things open after the cabin is up.
Size and capacity: the scaling rules we hold to
A 2-person sauna runs about 1.5×1.2 m with one short bench — snug, warm, personal. A 4-person sauna needs 2×2 m and a 6 kW heater. Six people means 2.4×2 m with an 8 kW heater, edging into three-phase territory. Above that — 8 to 20 people for large villas or commercial work — sizes run 3×2.4 m to 5×3.5 m with one or two 10.5 kW heaters.
Why this matters: a cabin too big for its heater never reaches temperature, and one too small for its occupants turns a 15-minute session into a punishment. When you say "for four", we design a space that genuinely seats four in comfort — a promise you can check with a tape measure.

From survey to handover
The route is short: you send photos of the room and your district via WhatsApp; we come to measure and check the electrics — free across DKI, from Menteng to PIK; you receive a visual of the unit in your room plus a line-item quote; a 50% deposit starts the imported material order. Installation runs to a written schedule, and handover always goes through a full heat test: the heater brought up to working temperature, ventilation checked, door and glass inspected — in front of you.
After that the 2-year construction warranty starts, with the manufacturer's 1–2 year warranty on the heater. Many of our clients go on to add an ice baths a few months later — if you already know you want both, the sauna + ice bath package combines the survey and electrical work in one pass, and the saving shows up in the quote.
Send photos of your room now — within an hour or two of working time you'll know which format makes sense, the likely range, and when the team can come to measure.
